Blog 1- Blink

The book Blink was written by Michael Gladwell.  It is a non-fiction book and was published, January 11th 2005.  I do not believe the author is very popular since I have never heard of him before. The types of people that would be interested in reading Blink, are people who enjoy looking at life from a different perspective.  From the acknowledgements on the back cover of the book, it can be seen that many people from the business community would benefit from reading this book since it brings up new theories on how to run a business more smoothly and other techniques. I do not usually read these kinds of books, since I am interested in thrillers, however I was drawn to the book’s simple title and cover.  The cover of the book is white and only displays the title, subtitle and author’s name.  There are no pictures.  The front cover is plain and easy to look at.  The title is short and simple “Blink”, and it has a subtitle, “The Power of thinking without thinking”.  This is what drew me into selecting this book since I found this subtitle very intriguing. It looked like an interesting book to read.

On the back cover, there are reviews from very prestigious publicists such as New York Times, and Fortune.  This was very appealing, because I can see that this book is being showcased by these famous news broad castors.  From the reviews, it seems like a very good book to read which further gained my interest in reading it. The cover of the book reflects the subject matter of what the book is about and its focus on the power of thinking.  Since this book, is non-fiction, and the ideas in it can be used in the real world, I look forward to learning, and reading this book.
